FSJJ
Adult BJJ
in Murwillumbah.
Black-belt-led Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults and teens aged 15+ in the Tweed Valley. Start as a complete beginner, return after time away, or keep developing as an experienced grappler—all levels are welcome on the mat.
You do not need previous martial arts experience to begin. Adult classes teach BJJ through fundamental movement, technique and supervised practice with a training partner.
The weekly program includes Gi and No-Gi training, early-morning and evening sessions, plus a Wednesday Gi Fundamentals class. That gives local adults several ways to fit training around work and family.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a technical martial art. You will be learning how position, leverage and timing work while building practical self-defence skills and challenging your fitness.
Your first class is free. Arrive about 10 minutes early to sign in and meet your coach. Wear comfortable activewear—shorts or leggings and a T-shirt are fine—and no gi is needed for the trial.
A class runs through a warm-up, technique and supervised practice. There is no pressure to know what to do before you arrive; let us know that you are new when you book.
Flying Squirrel Jiu-Jitsu is at 1/19 Buchanan Street in South Murwillumbah, welcoming adults from Murwillumbah and across the Tweed Valley and Northern Rivers.

Fundamentals
The Wednesday evening timetable includes BJJ Gi Fundamentals from 6:00–7:00 pm and Gi / No-Gi rolling from 6:45–7:30 pm. If you are unsure where to start, ask us when booking.

Twenty Years
on the Mats.
Mark and Michelle Nienaber began their Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2005 at Axis Jiu-Jitsu on the Gold Coast under Professor Jason Roebig. Both are now BJJ black belts.
Mark received his black belt from Jason in 2017 and now holds a second-degree black belt in BJJ and a brown belt in Judo. He has taught Jiu-Jitsu for many years and competed in both arts.
Mark awarded Michelle her black belt in 2024, the result of nearly two decades on the mats together. Their academy traces its lineage through Jason Roebig and Takamasa Watanabe of Axis Jiu-Jitsu back to Master Rickson Gracie.
